Science Meets Entrepreneurship: AGRIPI Green Agribusiness Incubation Program Launch
July 15, 2024, 10:38 a.m.
Rwanda's
agricultural sector is undergoing a remarkable transformation, led by none
other than its own youth! Forget the stereotype of agriculture being an
"old man's game." AGRIRESEARCH UNGUKA Ltd, a private research and
extension company, shattered that notion by becoming the first youth-led
initiative of its kind in Rwanda that does research as business.
These
young pioneers didn't just break barriers; they thrived. AGRIRESEARCH UNGUKA
Ltd is now a prominent player in agricultural research and extension, not just
in Rwanda, but beyond its borders.
But
their ambition doesn't stop there. The same youth are now leading the charge
with the Agricultural Green Research and Innovation Park Initiative (AGRIPI) –
Rwanda's first-ever agricultural research and innovation center, hosted at the
University of Rwanda, College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary
Medicine (UR-CAVM). AGRIPI tests and develop technologies, and best practices
for regenerative agriculture and eco-friendly post-harvest solutions.
